Grayton Beach Tour May 2017
Tour of Grayton Beach, Florida
Known for its laid-back, hippie vibe, Grayton Beach is one of the original 30A communities. Centrally located on along the corridor, it's a must visit 30A destination. In Grayton Beach you'll find delicious restaurants, friendly people, vehicles on the beach and stunning natural beauty. Western Lake (2nd largest of the rare coastal dune lakes) flows into the Gulf of Mexico at Grayton Beach. The confluence of the lake and Gulf waters is a great place to SUP, kayak and swim. Kids love playing in the shallow tide pools that form there as well.
Setting up for the day on Grayton Beach is as easy as it gets... if you have a vehicle beach permit. Those that have the Grayton Beach permit can drive their 4x4s right up to the water. No need to carry all your gear across the sand. From my understanding, the vehicle permits are given out via a yearly lottery system.
Located just east of the main town you'll find Grayton Beach State Park. It's one of the most popular Florida State Parks and is nationally renowned. At Grayton Beach State Park you'll find sea oat covered sand dunes, salt marshes, Western Lake and Caribbean colored waters. The state park offers fantastic camping, fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding and sightseeing opportunities.
You'll find an amazing artificial reef just off the shore of Grayton Beach State Park. People love to kayak or stand up paddle out to the reef. In fact, one of the hottest new 30A attractions are the guided Grayton Beach Reef Snorkel Tours.
This tour of Grayton Beach was shot on May 30, 2017. It was the first week of the summer season on 30A and it was cloudy. The entire week was overcast and warm. Luckily for the thousands of people on vacation, the rain held off most of the week!
