Inlet Beach Visitors Guide
As the great Frank Sinatra once sang… “Come fly with me, let’s fly, fly away. If you can use some exotic booze there’s a bar on 30A”
OK… I made that last part up but I think it works:) Anyway, we’re so happy that you’ve found us here at 30A Prime where our focus is on highlighting the best of 30A and Florida’s Emerald Coast. Our goal is to create the ultimate 30A guide and we’ll do that by showcasing each South Walton community from east to west beginning with Inlet Beach.
Inlet Beach, FL is all about Location, Location, Location
In regards to the most perfectly geo-located SoWal community, it’s difficult to top Inlet Beach and here’s why… Inlet Beach is located at the eastern-most end of South Walton County. Directly to the west is Rosemary Beach and to the east is Lake Powell which is the largest of the super rare coastal dune lakes that are found all along scenic 30A FL.
Just a short 5-minute drive east down HWY 98 you’ll find grocery stores, Dunkin’ Donuts, doctors offices, restaurants, and a CVS pharmacy. Just a few minutes further east of Inlet Beach you’ll hit Pier Park. There you’ll find a wide variety of restaurants, stores, activities, carnival rides, movie theaters, a fishing pier and much more. Pier Park is basically a 1-stop-shop for food, retail stores, beach, and entertainment. Also, the Panama City Beach Airport (a.k.a Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport) is just a 20 – 25-minute drive from Inlet Beach.
From Inlet Beach, if you go west you have easy access to all of the 30A east communities which are; Rosemary Beach, Seacrest Beach and Alys Beach. Staying in Inlet Beach is great because you really don’t need a vehicle as you can access pretty much everything you need via bike or even afoot. People that like to avoid the busyness of 30A but still have easy access to it, really enjoy Inlet Beach.
Inlet Beach, Florida is Growing
Inlet Beach is often referred to as the “land of opportunity” in regards to South Walton Real-Estate because there are still many great deals to be had on both the north and south side of HWY 98. New commercial and residential properties are being erected faster than any other beach community in the area. For example, 30Avenue is a new commercial development located in the heart of Inlet Beach.
At 30Avenue you’ll find fantastic restaurants, shops, fitness studios, professional offices, live music and more. One of my personal favorite retail shops at 30Avenue is 30A Olive Oil where you’ll find a vast selection of gourmet oils, balsamics, sea salts and gifts for any occasion. 30Avenue is located on the north side of 98 right across the street from Shades Bar & Grill and is just a short walk or bike ride from Rosemary Beach.
Camp Helen State Park is another point of interest on the east end of SoWal as it bumps up against Lake Powell to the east, the Gulf of Mexico to the south and Inlet Beach to the west. At Camp Helen State Park you’ll find hiking trails, a pristine beach, old rainbow cottages, kayak rentals, activities for kids and more. If you like to fish, Camp Helen State Park offers easy access to Lake Powell which is where you’ll find a plethora of redfish, speckled trout and flounder. Make sure to read our guide on Fishing Lake Powell before going out on the water. Camp Helen is a must-see for all those that visit South Walton.
Inlet Beach has the Best Public Beach Access in South Walton County
Inlet Beach has a plethora of positive things going for it these days. However, in the opinion of many people, its best attribute is the public beach access points. Nowhere else along the 30A corridor or in Panama City Beach will you find nicer, more accessible beach access points than at Inlet Beach.
The main Inlet Beach public access point is at the south end of Orange Street and it offers clean restrooms, tons of parking and a convenient boardwalk with ZERO STAIRS! In addition to the main Orange Street access point, there are at least 4 other painless public beach access spots throughout Inlet Beach. No more driving in circles trying to find a place to park. No more hauling beach gear up and down steep stairs. It’s easy to get on the water at Inlet Beach.
In 2017, the South Walton Artificial Reef Association installed a fish-shaped reef just off of Inlet Beach Orange Street regional access. The reef was constructed in the shape of a Cobia and is accessible from off the sandy beach. As the reef matures, it will attract all types of marine life and will offer great snorkeling and fishing opportunities. The Inlet Beach reef is located on the backside of the second sandbar which you’ll see in our 30A Prime original “Inlet Beach Reef Hunt” video.
There’s definitely a growing Buzz in regards to Inlet Beach so please take a few minutes and enjoy a view from above…
