Elmore’s Landing has New Owners, but Keeps Joe Elmore’s Spirit Alive
Elmore’s Landing, located at 24728 US-331 in Santa Rosa Beach, is the home of Joe Elmore’s many artistic works. Marked with a colorful painted Jeep out front, Elmore’s Landing is an experience like no other. Joe was a man who loved to paint and sculpt, using his imagination to create art using themes like his Indian Heritage, animals or whatever was on his mind. Joe enjoyed it when customers visited his property and he sold just about anything in sight on his land. But his art was his true love.
Joe Elmore died in early 2017, and left behind his property full of treasures. Elmore’s Landing was recently sold to new owners Sam Douangdara and Mike Madriaga. Sam and Mike, both artists and business partners who buy and refurbish properties, bought the property with the promise and intention of keeping Joe’s artistic spirit and eclectic taste alive at Elmore’s Landing. They feel they now have a location that will not only build community and bring locals together, but also allow vacationers to explore local art or create an artistic memory while on their vacation.
Upon entering the gate at Elmore’s Landing, you may notice the artistic bathtub. Or perhaps your eye catches the airstream trailers on the land. Or you ask yourself, “What’s in those two cabins?” or “What’s behind that gate with the magnificent blue wings?” Elmore’s Landing is a family-friendly place that generates a calm energy and inspires creativity.
Elmore’s Landing sells art and jewelry. In addition to all of Joe Elmore’s artistic works, they have added the paintings of five additional artists for sale. These artists include Billie Gaffrey, Washboard Jackson, Jan Williams, Sam Douangdara and Jessie Saint. The different mediums utilized by each artist make exploring the gallery a fun and educational experience.
Elmore’s Landing is managed by Jessie Saint, also one of the artists with her work on display. Jessie offers “drop in classes” for anyone, including children. Call her to let her know you are stopping by for a class and she will be ready when you get there. If you want to drop in with your children for a class while you explore the gallery, take a yoga class or sit outside with your friends while you embark on child-free conversation with some wine and beer, there is something for everyone at Elmore’s Landing. Elmore’s Landing also hosts special events such as live music and kids art-themed birthday parties.
Keeping Elmore’s tradition alive, they will host the 25th Annual Christmas Art Show on Saturday, December 9th and Sunday, December 10th from 10am to 6pm. This event will include local arts and crafts vendors, beer, wine and soft drinks. Additionally, come out and enjoy live music by Max McCann and Dino Lourde and art activities and face painting for the kids.
