Visitors Guide to Alys Beach a 30A East Masterpiece
Located on the east end of the 30A corridor, Alys Beach is a meticulously planned, chic South Walton community. It is home to great restaurants, shops, parks and a famous donut truck. The entrance to this special place from both the east and west ends of scenic HWY 30A is unlike any other South Walton community.
A pair of white Butteries highlight the entrance to Alys Beach and they offer fantastic photo opportunities. Impecablible landscaping consisting of pristine Bermuda grass, large hedges, and tall Florida palm trees line both sides of 30A throughout the community. The architecture in Alys is highly unique and every structure in the town is white giving it a simplistic, coastal feel. The white structures turn magnificent shades of pink on clear evenings creating a truly breathtaking scene.
On the north side of scenic 30A in Alys Beach, you’ll find nature trails, tennis courts, parks, restaurants, shops, a Caliza pool, a fitness center and more. On the south side, you’ll find beautiful Gulf view greens, parks, Piper’s Kitchen, a bike shop and soon a Beach Club. The entire community is walkable so no matter where you stay, you’ll have easy access to all the Alys Beach amenities including the Gulf of Mexico.
Lots of Fun Things To Do in Alys Beach
Like all other 30A communities, Alys Beach is a family-friendly vacation spot. There are a bunch of fun things for kids and adults to do in this 30A community. You’ll find a brand new kids playground at Fonville Press called “Fonville Park“. It’s a great place where kids burn off energy and grown-ups gain it via coffee drinks at the adjacent Fonville Press cafe and restaurant.
You’ll find an awesome splash pad at the Alys Beach Amphitheatre in front of Charlie’s Donuts Truck. The splash pad is among the best on 30A and is open to the public. So even if you’re not staying in Alys, the splash pad is a great place to take your kids and let them play.
All throughout the summer months, the Amphitheatre is a top 30A venue for music concerts. Live music at Alys is always fun and offers folks the opportunity to kick back, enjoy cold beverages and great music under the Florida stars. Community organizers often bring in food trucks when they host live music events at the amphitheater which helps to keep your buzz under control.
If hiking is your thing then you’ll love the Alys Beach Nature Trail on the north side of the community. The Nature Trail winds through a 20-acre preserve and features an elevated boardwalk throughout most of it. The Alys Beach Nature Trail offers a quiet retreat from the hustle and bustle of high season 30A and is a great way to spend a few hours together as a family. If you need a break from the sun or if it’s an overcast day on 30A, hit up the Natures Trails at Alys.
Firepit Park is a fun place to gather with friends and enjoy a glass of wine. The park is centrally located on the north side of Alys Beach and is a great place to relax on cool South Walton evenings. Lot’s of heat is given off by the fire pit and there’s green space all around it for the kids to enjoy.
Tennis lovers will appreciate playing at Clermont Courts. The tennis courts are in impeccable shape and are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Clermont Courts hours are 9 am to 10 pm daily and feature restrooms, seating, a water station and Gulf breezes.
Located on the north side of 30A, Caliza Pool is probably the most popular amenity in the community and for good reason. Caliza is among the most impressive swimming pools not just on 30A but in all of South Walton County which is saying allot. When you’re ready to catch a buzz, hit up the Caliza Poolside bar which turns into a restaurant at night.
Alys Beach Restaurants
A few of my favorite restaurants in Alys are as follows…
Caliza Pool Restaurant – One of the best Happy Hour spots on 30A, Caliza Restaurant serves up contemporary American food in a laid-back, poolside setting.
Fonville Press – You’ll find everything you need at the new and improved Fonville Press. Once just a coffee shop, Fonville Press is now so much more. It’s a delicious restaurant that serves up breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It’s also a coffee, wine and craft beer bar with indoor and outdoor seating. You’ll find a brand new playground for the kids at Fonville Press making it the Go-To-Spot in Alys Beach for young families.
George’s – George’s is a top 5 restaurant on 30A in my opinion. Everything on their menu is high-end cooking and sure to please. George’s just added a rooftop deck that offers incredible views of the Gulf.

Alys Beach Shops
Some of my wife’s favorite shops in Alys are as follows…
Ann Hartley – This is a new boutique that offers an upscale collection of curated treasures from all over the world.
NEAT – A Bottle Shop and Tasting Room under one roof is what you’ll find at NEAT in Alys Beach. NEAT has a great selection of wines, spirits and craft beers in the bottle shop and the tasting room is where you can sample it all.
The Alys Shoppe – The place to get official Alys Beach gear such as t-shirts, hats and more.

Alys Beach Rentals
Unlike all other 30A communities, Alys Beach rentals are listed pretty much exclusively through their website which is… AlysBeach.com
To the best of my knowledge, you will not find Alys Beach vacation rentals on the local property management company websites or any other 3rd party sites for that matter. Real-Estate in this 30A town is run by the community creators which is actually a really smart concept. So if you’re interested in renting in Alys Beach, you’ll need to go to their website.
Alys Beach Access to the Gulf of Mexico
Like its neighbors Rosemary Beach and Seacrest Beach, all beach access points in Alys Beach are private. The two most popular art Turtle Bale Green and Gulf Green. Located on the western shore, Turtle Bale Green offers easy access to the Gulf of Mexico. At Turtle Bale Green you’ll find a convex mound of turfgrass, a beautiful fountain, and bathrooms.
Gulf Green is centrally located along the Alys Beach shoreline and also offers easy access to the Gulf of Mexico. You’ll find a deck that is perfect for watching sunsets, restrooms and a spectacular water feature.
Final Thoughts on Alys Beach, Florida
Alys Beach is unique in that it is sophisticated even by 30A standards but also accommodating to people of all economic classes. For example, we have not yet actually rented in Alys because it’s currently beyond our financial means. However, that hasn’t stopped us from enjoying their wonderful community, parks, splash pad, amphitheater, donut truck and nature trail. In the 5 plus years we’ve lived in SoWal, we’ve never felt unwelcomed in Alys Beach and that’s not true of other high-end places in Florida. Alys Beach is a prime 30A vacation spot and it’s completely down-to-earth friendly at the same time which is something I really admire.
