Seagrove Beach and Eastern Lake AerialEastern Lake is centrally located along the 30A corridor on the eastern edge of Seagrove Beach. Along with Lake Powell, Eastern Lake is one of the more accessible of rare 30A Coastal Dune Lakes. You'll find a small park with a boat ramp on the eastern end of the lake off of Lakewood Drive. Its the perfect place to launch kayaks, Stand Up Paddle Boards and small boats. Eastern Lake is often open to the Gulf of Mexico so the Lakewood Drive launch is a great place to access the beach in a unique way. The park is not heavily trafficked and there is usually always plenty of parking space to leave your vehicle.
For the past 5 years, our office was located about 200 yards from this Eastern Lake boat launch so I would often sneak away for an hour and SUP around the lake. Fishing in Eastern lake is really good year round. Redfish and trout are the 2 most common species but it's possible to catch just about anything since the lake interacts with the Gulf waters. If you're into photography then you'll want to get out on this lake for sure. Wildlife is everywhere and the white sand dunes offer a perfect backdrop. Eastern and all the coastal dune lakes are truly natural wonders that offer up endless money shots for armature and professional photographers.
Sailing is another popular activity on the Lake. I tend to see more sailboats on Eastern lake than on any of the other coastal lakes and you'll see one in this aerial video.
