Grayton Beach State Park Ranks as One of the Best in the Country
Year after year Grayton Beach State Park is ranked among the most pristine beaches in the USA. This 2,000 acre Florida State Park boasts breathtaking sand dunes, fantastic fishing, swimming, hiking, biking and camping opportunities. Western Lake, which is probably the most beautiful of the rare coastal dune lakes, makes up a major part of the park. The brackish lake is a great place to fish, Stand Up Paddle Board, kayak and canoe. Western Lake is the inspiration for some of the most famous 30A art works.
In 1964 the Florida Board of Parks was able to acquire about 356 acres of land that made up the original Grayton Beach State Park. More surrounding acreage was purchased in 1985, 1993 and 1995 to bring it to the current 2,000 acres. In 1968 it was officially dedicated as a State Park and opened to the public. For those that have not had a chance to visit, I highly recommend spending a day at Grayton Beach State Park.
